People believe that legendary Himmapan Forest with its mythology creatures
is located somewhere in the Himalayas.
This legendary forest is deemed to be below the Buddhist heavens
and is invisible to the eyes of mortals.
The mythical creatures, which live in the Himmapan forest are combined animals,
like the Garuda (Thai: Krut), shown on the picture, half eagle, half human.

This year the city of Chiang Mai had a magnificent surprise for the Loy Krathong Festival 2010,
a lantern exhibition on several places in the city.
At the Suan Dok Gate (Pratu Suan Dok), the gate to the west,
there is one part of that lantern exhibition,
called, The Legends of Himmapan.
A selection of the mythical Himmapan creatures is been shown there,
beautifully illuminated at night time.
The Chiang Mai Loy Krathong 2010 Lantern Exhibition ends at the 30.11.2010.
