Thai Eyes wants to recommend a Chiang Mai Service for Sak Yant (Buddha Tattoo).
Sak Yant, the sacred Tattoo, is an old tradition from Siam, nowadays Thailand. Sak means Tattoo and Yant is a magical, sacred design. Centuries ago, this tradition started by drawings of that magical designs
on soldiers uniforms. The Yants should give them additional power and protection.
We´ve been told that this Yants had to be done in one line, without a stop, like chinese calligraphy.
A Sak Yant is mostly done by a Buddhist monk or a Brahmin priest
and has to be blessed to get it´s power.
Nowadays Sak Yant became a big fashion in the western world,
maybe because Hollywood star Angelina Jolie got a Sak Yant, made in Thailand.

Sak Yant, the holy tattoo or sacred tattoo is connected with the believing
in it´s supernatural power. You´ll have to follow some rules as well or the tattoo will become weak or will loose all it´s power. There is 2 main Sak Yant groups, the visible Yant,
made with tattoo ink or the invisible, made with oil.
A friend of us reported, that he once got an invisible Sak Yant
and while he´s been drunk or bad behaving, the Yant turned red.
He was so afraid of that, that he put a “normal” tattoo over the Sak Yant.
From that day on, the power of the Yant was broken
and it became completly invisible and never turned red again.

The sacred Tattoo, Sak Yant isn´t a fashion tattoo
and if You can´t believe in it,
don´t bother and go to a Tattoo Studio,
but if You really want a blessed tattoo,
we like to recommend the Chiang Mai Sak Yant Service.
It´s very difficult to find the small temple outside Chiang Mai
in San Pathong and the monk, who do the Sak Yant is not speaking English.
The Service contains appointment with the monk, transportation
and a translation service.
You will also find a lot of helpful information about Sak Yant
at the Thai Guide to Thailand website.

Update 02.0.2011:
The Sak Yant Chiang Mai Service isn´t available anymore
