The “Mango War” is a clash between 2 different cultures.
While Thai people love to eat unripe, sour mangoes,
westerners (Farang) like them sweet and fully ripe.
Last year we planted a Nam Dok Mai Mango Tree (Mangifera indica)
and this year the small tree was fully packed with flowers
and later on with a lot of very small mangoes.
We already made bets, how many kiloes of the “Queen of the Mangoes”,
the Nam Dok Mai Mango we could possibly harvest.
I assumed 15- 20 kiloes, while our photographer Chocolate
said, with a tricksy smile, possibly 1-2 Kiloes.

A few days ago, I had a look at the tree
and was quite disappointed,
because there wasn´t that much mangoes any more.
Chocolate smiled, while I asked him,
why there is just a few fruits left.
Ohhhh…. the storm, he answered.
Which storm ???
Ohhhh… a few days ago !
There wasn´t a storm !
Ohhhh… the rain !
I became suspicious.

Just a few days late, my beloved mango tree had just a single fruit left,
as You can see at the picture,
but the night before a could solve the riddle.
Our two photographers Nat & Chocolate been sitting in the garden
with a cup of chili flakes and been eating young, unripe mangoes,
directly from my tree. I took them to task.
Nit Noi Eng (just a little bit),
was the answer.

Later on I was thinking about a punishment for the theft
of my mangoes and I got an idea.
Yesterday a bought a small mango tree,
which will produce very sour fruits,
which fits their demands and condemned my two “bad boys”
to plant the tree.
What kind of punishment is that,
will You think, it´s more a reward, than a punishment.
Ha Ha Ha….555
The soil, where they had to plant the tree
is as hard as granite
and they needed a few hours just to dig a small hole.
Now we´re hoping on a better mango season next year
and if You have a mango tree keep a strict watch,
if there is some Thai people around.
