    Buddha Tattoo – Sacred Tattoo

    Many Thais are very superstitious and believe in a lot of odd things,
    which are out of the common for farangs (foreigners).
    Many farangs are shaking their heads, if the come across sacred tattoos/Buddha Tattoos,
    which are very common in Thailand.
    There are a lot of words for this “holy tattoos”, like Buddha tattoo, sacred tattoo, brahmin tattoo, Sanskrit tattoo, temple tattoo or buddhist tattoo….
    A Buddha tattoo has to be made by a buddhist monk or a brahmin/brahman priest.
    The words on the Tattoos are written in Sanskrit, the old language of the Brahman.
    Thais believe this tattoos will make You invulnerable and give You strength,
    this is why “Buddha tattoos” are very popular with Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) fighter.

      where can I get a Buddha tattoo? I couldn’t find a tattooing monk in shanghai Beijing or Xi’an

      This Tattoos, called Sak Yant, are a Thai speciality. We think You can??t get them somewhere else than in Thailand.

      all this so called Sak Yant Tattoos (Buddha Tattoos)
      are very powerful and have to be tattooed by a monk.
      You can??t do it by Yourself !!!
      Al the designs are top secret !

      The Buddha tattoo is only designed by a monk. Each little drawing represents a different part to protect or give good luck. Spirits, girls, money, etc. If you want to get one for you, you’ll be the only one to have that design because it is specially drawn up by the monk. You do not need to get it done at a temple, the monk can draw it up and you can get it done by another artist, however in order for it to have any “power” you have to go to the monk so he can bless it.
