    By Thai-Eyes | April 26, 2008

    The tropical enviroment of Thailand
is home for many exotic plants and flowers.
The Plumeria (called after the French botanist Charles Plumier)
is native to Central- and Southamerica,
but also spread all over tropical Asia.
The Plumeria, also called Frangipani or Champaflower (thai: Leelawadee)
has a very nice fragrant, which is strongest as nighttime.
The flowers are used for perfum production.

There are different colours of the Champaflower, with different smells.
In Thailand the Champaflower is called Dok Champa or Dok Leelawadee
and is mostly planted at buddhist tempels.
Thaipeople believe the Champa tree gives shelter to demons and ghost
and should not be planted very close to a dwelling house
