Every day in the afternoon, streets in many cities in Thailand descends into a gigantic traffic chaos. About 5 o´clock in the afternoon, while schools are closing and there are alraedy traffic jams, it seems like a Thai conspiracy, that all people go to the local markets at the same time.
Did I say go ?
No that´s wrong !
Nowadays Thai people use their cars to drive to the markets nearby and there is a side effect.
Streets are small, sometimes too small for 2 oncoming cars, which effects a complete blockade of the road.
Now motorcyclists try to go further on and fill every available whole,
the chaos is perfect.
While You need about 5 Minutes to walk to the market
in the afternoon, a motorcycle needs about 20 Minutes.
If You go by car, You will need more then an hour
and than You´ll have to hunt for a parking lot,
which costs You maybe another hour.
Now You will ask, why use a car to buy just a few things at the market ?
The answer is very easy !
If You have a car, You have to show it !!!
The bigger, the better !!!
Convenient or not, that´s a minor question.
