Yao Thailand Hilltribe Boy in Traditional Costume
By Thai-Eyes | May 3, 2009
The Yao are a small hilltribe in Thailand.
There population in Thailand is just about 50.000-60.000 people.
The Yao are originated to South China (about 2.500.000 people),
bt they spread out to Burma, Laos, Vietnam and the North of Thailand.
The Yao Hilltribes are well-known for their colourful embroideries
and beautiful traditional costumes
They are peaceful and very friendly people.
Yesterday in the afternoon we got hilltribe vistors
from the Chiang Rai province (Changwat Chiang Rai)
and they brought a very young Yao hilltribe boy with them.
His parents has been busy and let the elder brothers take care the young kid.
It was the first time for the 3 years young kiddie
to come to the “big city” of Chiang Mai.
Our Thai photographer took the chance and made a few shots with the young cutie.
In the beginning it was quite difficult, the young kid was very shy,
he never saw a camera or studio lighting before in his life,
but after a while he conquered his shyness and had a lot of fun
to work with the photographer.
The most fun for all of us was, as we gave a can of Coca-Cola
(in thai called: coke) to the youngster.
The can was to heavy for him and he had to use both hands.
